Thanks for your reply. Look, it is a big deal. I can live with the current bypass method.
The language I am talking anbout is Polish which is not supported by the KDP platform (and looks like this situation is not going to change pretty soon). In Poland we have funny situation where Amazon sells kindle devices but not ebooks in Polish language. You can buy them in other book stores (either in epub or mobi format) but then you run into all kind of problems with ebook covers and thumbnails which is rather annoying.
I played with your plugin for a little while and seems to me that Kindle Previewer has some kind of validation that stops the program to run futher. The interim steps of your plugin go fine, program crashes at the 67% when it attempts to convert to kfx. As I mentioned before, to bypass this issue I temporarily change the language setting of the book to English (calibre library metadata not the source epub metadata). The conversion then runs fine with all characters specific to Polish being carried on to the target book.
You can easily recreate this issue by running Shelley-Frankenstein sample set to any language that KDP currently does not support (I believe there is guite a few besides Polish).
By the way, it is not true that Doitsu uses the language settings just for the report. His wrapper also invokes external Amazon program (kindlegen) and if I have the language set to Polish I run into the same kind of problems as with kfx conversion.
Most definately problem lay with Kindle Previewer application but knowing Amazon repuation one would not expect change in this area very soon.
