Thank you! After fiddling around a bit I found out that this only happens if I have wifi turned on in Nickel before launching UMR with NickelMenu, if wifi is turned off everything works great (even if the "connecting to wifi..." tab pops up every time I unlock the device, but that is a very minor if not insignificant inconvenience).
