That's unfortunate. I can understand all books from a publisher being the same as they probably share a common publishing process and they probably use a common stylesheet. But, I would not expect multiple publishers to have the same problem.

For the record, they should be doing this at the body level. If the font-face is specified there, the epub reader will override it compete. Doing that allows the user to choose a font to read with, but, lets the book creator specify something different for short sections of text.
