That worked, but when I tried to open the book in Calibre, I had a pop-up window saying that the book is DRM-protected. I'm running the latest Calibre version with all plugins current. I have an M1 MacBook Air running Big Sur.
I did the process again, with the same result. My downloaded books appear in azw format, so it seems that the Terminal command works, at least to that point. Am I missing something? Do I need to go back to an older version of Kindle or Calibre? Everything was working properly before the 1.32 update appeared.
Thanks!

I'm having a very similar issue, except I don't have 1.32. Here's my current setup:
- 2015 MacBook Pro running Catalina 10.15.5
- K4M 1.28.0 with the updates folder set to be read-only (program crashes appropriately on exit)
- Disabled KFX support via terminal chmod command and received no error messages
- Running calibre 5.25.0
- Installed tools 7.2.1
I followed instructions and only DOWNLOADED the book via K4M and DIDN'T OPEN it in the K4M app.
Then added book to calibre and it added as an AWZ and shows the title and cover properly, so it appears KFX is indeed disabled.
But when I try to open the file in calibre, I get the following error message: "This books is locked by DRM. To learn more about DRM and why you cannot read or convert this book in calibre, read here."
Any help would be appreciated.
