If you live any where in Ohio, the public libraries in Ohio are legally required to allow you to get a library card if they receive Ohio funding, so I've read. The trick is, most of them make you get - and renew - your library card in person.

So I have my own card, but I have to renew in person every two years.

The person who signed me up - and renewed me last year - always asks me why I'd get a library card from her small-town library when I live in Columbus. I just tell her my mom lives there (which is true). It's easier than explaining I want the ebooks!

I'm not sure if any other member of my family has even stepped foot in the library, let alone have a card. I couldn't find anyone in the family that had a library card to just use their card number.
