700: Does it matter where I buy?

OK, I've done my research and I'm thinking the Sony 700 will work for me. Does it matter where I buy? I've been going to Borders to look at their demo model and was told if I buy from them, that once the package is opened, it cannot be returned. The salesman said, however, that if I bought direct from Sony that there was a time period (30 days) where you could return it if not fully satisfied.

He also said that I could not buy the service plan with accidental damage from them, that I would have to contact Sony directly. If that's the case, should I just buy from them?

Is there a difference between buying from the Sony website or from the Sony Style store?

What about the free book offer? It's not a big deal, but why waste it?

Other websites?
I assume the prices are all the same, at least that's what I've seen.

Thanks, ddave
