If you like Urban Fantasy, you might try Patricia Brigg's Mercedes Thompson series (first book "Moon Called") or her Alpha & Omega series (first story an separate ebook Novella "Alpha & Omega" or same story in the "On the Prowl" anthology).
Mercedes Thompson series is urban fantasy with a slow-building romance (takes more than one book and there's more than one man vying for her attention). Alpha & Omega is new (only 1 novella and 1 novel), but definitely has a romance.
And I most definitely "second" the suggestion for Linnea Sinclair's romantic space operas!
Edited to add: Oh, and I really enjoyed the Michelle Sagara "Cast" series, but if you're specifically looking for a romance, I wouldn't go looking for it in that series. There's a hint of a hint...but it's all unrequited and not really appearing to lead to anything...yet. If you want to read an interesting fantasy series with possibilities, go for it. Just don't look for a romance.
Another recommendation would be C.E. Murphy's "Negotiator" trilogy. Definitely a strong heroine, although I'll admit sometimes I think she was stupid about putting herself in danger.
