Yes, the process just "hung" and I wasn't able to kill it.
I tried doing the same thing on a friend's computer and everything worked perfectly -- so this is possibly a bad install or misconfiguration of fastboot on my part.
Funnily enough, I also noticed that if you go to the bootloader, fastboot will tell you the device is unlocked, but not if you have rebooted to fastboot.
Device is now rooted! Thank you!
