I found another way to get there...
You gave me the general idea of right-clicking - it was just a matter of where...
I discovered...
Right click in the space in the right hand pane (where most details about a book are)
Click on 'Open the book details window'
Right click on the right hand pane again
Choose 'Open the edit metadata window
and there you can add the details of the book.
