I seem to remember from safety training a few decades back that permanent damage to the retina can occur in 100 seconds or less which is considerably less than the 5 minutes or 300 seconds you were suggesting.

I am confident that people smart enough to be here don't need to be told it's a bad thing to stare into the sun.
The point - is that sunlight from a mirror will still fry your eyes - even though it's reflected. Ergo....reflecting light doesn't impart some magical property vs "light shining directly into your eyes".
If you are seeing light, it's coming directly into your eyes.
