But, I'm a little annoyed with myself. I thought about asking for a debug log from calibre, but, I didn't as it seemed to be the device, not calibre. If I had the log, I might have seen what caused this.
The conversion was normal with the appropriate file extension in the Calibre library. The only problem was the file truncation on the device post-transfer. And I should have thought about sending a debug log but didn't.
