So I've asked you guys for help before but I've learned and thought about a couple of things since then.
As the title says, I'm looking for a good, around 8 inch ereader, exclusively for books. No pdfs, no note taking.
So this is where I'm at:
- Pocketbook Inkpad 3 (pro or regular) - seems like the closest thing to what I'm looking for and the strongest candidate. Any caveats I might not be aware?
- Boyue Likebook p78 - this one was suggested on my first post but I overlooked it because it is not waterproof. I since then removed that factor from my search. I'm not sure about the pros and cons of an Android base ereader. I know you can download apps and correct things not so good with that but I would much rather have something that worked as intended out of the box and be the least involved possible with the device itself. What makes it interesting to me is the USB C and it seems way faster at doing things than the Pocketbook, judging from online videos. I guess battery pays the price and so does weight with the necessity of bigger batteries.
Kobo is not really an option for me right now. I did end up buying a Forma but sent it back because the power button didn't work (I think...). I don't feel like ordering another one and maybe having to send a second one back.
Oh, BTW... one thing I got very used to with my current reading device (IPad Pro) is being able to launch an internet search from something on the text. I'm struggling through the Malazan Book of the Fallen and that's a huge help. So many characters, places, timelines and mentions to things that were never explained before that I spend half the time not knowing what on earth is going on
Fast searching inside a book would be very helpful but I'm not sure if my candidates have that either
