They say it's a good first effort, and that Onyx Boox Note Air remains their overall pick in this category, due to compatibility with Android apps, more flexibility, hardware and features "such as layered color annotations and a color-shifting front-light."

Their summary:
"Kobo's strength is its excellent balance of simplicity and book availability. I see this as a reader with some extra annotation abilities, not primarily as a digital notepad, and Kobo is delightfully no-nonsense in its UI and design. As I say in every Kobo review, there's no better option if you primarily like to get books from your library with Overdrive. "
