It will depend on how the extra lines are added. If it is done in the stylesheet, then changing the style for the paragraph should be all that is needed. Or you could use a do a conversion and choose the options to not put space between paragraphs.

But, if it is done in the HTML code, then you will need to edit it and strip out the extra code.

To help more that that, we probably need to see a sample of the book code. That would let us see what is causing the extra spacing.
