IMHO Keep the cover IF different from what is embedded. Publishers change them all the time.
Sometimes they even do get better.
(One of the first tasks I did using calibre, was to document my paperback collection. It was amazing how many covers downloaded, by ISBN, DID NOT match my physical copy. Luck had it, I had a flatbed scanner handy. )
