I cannot prove that a poorly placed magnet was interfering with the Clara's auto-sleep function. But I can't think of another explanation, either.

Hmm! I wonder if it was intermittently engaging sleep, so it was constantly going to sleep and waking up again? That would certainly use rather a lot of power
