send to Kindle

The method that works for me is to use the Kindle app on my non-Amazon device and make each ebook a personal document in my Amazon storagel

I strip the DRM for any ebook (even a Kindle ebook) and put the book into Calibre but I then use the "Send to Kindle" utility to send the book to my Kindle "personal" documents. (This may require converting to a format, such as mobi, that "Send to Kindle" accepts).

To use the "Send to Kindle" approach (rather than mailing to Kindle), I open the "Path" to the actual files--Calibre lets you click to open the folder and then use Send to Kindle on an acceptable format.

Amazon's whispersync works fine with personal documents and keeps my reading synced.
