I went to buy one last night and they were sold out. They just sold out this weekend, too. 🙁
However, that’s great news for Kobo. (And us, since they stay in business 😚
I find the heated disdain for the Elipsa fascinating. It’s clearly designed to be a note taker more than an eReader. It’s targeted to a completely different market. The re:Markable proved that there is a market for low power, editing & note taking devices. I’ve seen quite a few of them at writers conferences. I hear they have an only so-so ebook reading experience, but that’s not why people bought them. It was cool having edits done right next to me on my book, then sent to me as a pdf.
For $8 I can buy GoodNotes for my iPad and do the same thing as reMarkable, and I have. My iPad cost $400, too. But it also has distractions, weight, and an unquenchable need for electricity daily. I was looking forward to Elipsa with its EPUB editing support, low power needs, eReader excellence, and manga utopia.
Does anybody know if the price will change after the initial pre-order?
