But a ton of her friends have gotten vaccinated with nothing more than very minor and expected side effects, so at this point it looks more like sheer stubbornness than anything else. I'm hoping peer pressure gets to her eventually.
I cross my fingers she changes her mind.

My moms flat is in a complex comprising of three houses bulit for senior residents. So they are all older than 64 or so. One of them organized a mobile vaccination team to come over and give them all their shots. Which was a really big thing to make happen as they did roll out vaccinations by age groups here in Germany. So people living there were able to get their shots at a time slot reserved for 90+ citizens.

The mobile team was there for two days. Some didn't want to get their shots so in the afternoon one of the soldiers was in the street searching for passersby who wanted to get vaccinated with the overhang. They were scheduled to come back after three weeks.

A couple of days later they were called back because now some of those who didn't want to get their shots had changed their minds when they heard no one had had side effects other than the odd ache where the shot was administered. This was when I got lucky.

After their second shot some said they were tired, but all in all everyone was quite happy with how it went and now to be able to see their grandkids and kids and friends again without fear. Another thing changing minds here is the hoops one has to jump through to go shopping for non essentials or getting a hair cut, like having a test no older than 24 hrs. Time slots at the test stations can only be booked online, so this makes it difficult for a lot of older folks and the vaccination instantaneously more attractive.
