It's been sitting in my Audible library and I got a couple recommendations for it over on Reddit, too, so I started in on the audiobook yesterday. My last audiobook also had some super racist tropes, so a bit of a palate cleanser was in order. I was expecting Kindred to be more of a departure from the books in this thread, and obviously it is a contrast to what are mostly white guy power fantasies, but it also has some of the same flavor, from a perspective of historical interest if not engineering and mass combat. Butler's prose runs a little passive and bookish, which is not awesome for audio, but the story is pulling me along - I made quite a dent in it yesterday.
