But the question then is - how fully can you trust web sites?

In Taiwan, wearing a mask, before the 2002 SARS outbreak, marked one as a bit odd. Mask wearing, by the cool kids, as simple politeness to avoid spreading your cold is, I think, less than 20 years old.

Then, how much can you trust me?
