One thing that I've noticed as I read more on my Kobo eReader is that, for me, eReaders don't work well for non fiction. I prefer the larger screen that my iPad pro gives me, especially with regard to the various non text information (pictures, graphs, etc...) that I find in the non fiction books that I read, but I also think that having more text on the screen makes it easier to understand the more complex information in non fictional works.

Of course, eReaders are easier in an environment where there is more glare on the screen.
