I chose my current TV because I can plug in my wired, noise cancelling headphones. A bonus is that when they are plugged in it doesn't mute the TV, so I can just keep them plugged in.

The drawback is that there is a hiss, it isn't noticeable when watching action movies, but anything quieter and it's noticeable. Also you can't adjust the volume with the regular volume buttons on the remote. The volume control is buried three or four layers into the settings menu.

Last week I ordered a digital audio converter for €30, I can connected it to the optical out and it converts it into an analogue signal and it has an jack for audio out. There were cheaper ones, but this one comes with a remote, so I can adjust the volume without having to get up.

I had to wait for a new extension cord, which came today. I set it all up and it works! I've been looking at getting a better TV, since I watch a lot of TV (especially in the past year). And most don't have a jack for audio out. They probably expect people who buy a €800 - €1000 TV to have some sort of sound system. I don't, I haven't got the space for that, though I might get a soundbar eventually.

Tonight I'm going to watch one of the concerts on the blu-ray box set from the band Nightwish I got. On the 28th I'm attending their virtual concert.
