Well, thanks a lot for the hint. I tried those first when I found the device on the attic. I think what you are trying to say is that default passwords provided by Samsung at factory-reset-state usually are the mentioned. Is my assumption correct?

My question rather is: How to reset the device to get back into a factory-reset-state? What is if a prior user supplied a password to the device, no one will ever guess? Is the device now lost forever? Usually there is some kind of key combination to reset and wipe any device. That's what I am trying to find out here.

Thanks again for you hint and if anyone has more information on that, please get back to me, I still have an unusable ebook reader lying around which is a shame :-/
