I have seen the new Hawaii 5-0 and to be fair, although formulaic, with the usual sort of police-procedural tripe, Odin knows, I've seen a LOT worse in the last 20 years. {shrug}. Didn't stay to watch it, admittedly, as a regular viewer, but...I've seen worse.
Gee, what next? Barnaby Jones with a 30-something protag? Perhaps Barnabee Jones, the original Barnaby's granddaughter? LOL...poor Quinn Martin Productions!

My issue with remakes is that they rarely are able to capture whatever it was that made the original a success. They really are different shows with the same basic premise and happen to have the same name. If you expect the same experience, then you are likely to be disappointed. Sequels frequently have the same issue.
