No it doesn't. You can have both. The subtitle is in the same font face as the title, but about half the size. Which is the same as the author. The series is the same size as these, but, using a san serif font. What does happens is that if there is no subtitle, longer titles will wrap to the second line.

@John F: I used "library list" because the same list is used for books everywhere in your library on the device. The same details, sorting etc. The only difference I can think of is that for a series, the sort has "Book number" instead of "Series". I could use "book list", but, there is a different book list in the store.
