It seems now viewers don't have the attention span to follow clever writing, so you need explosions to make it interesting. (How's that for a get-off-my-lawn comment?) I'm all for a good romp with space battles, lens flares, etc. But sometimes I want to see dialog and character development.

And sometimes, nothing but Laurel & Hardy will do. My grandsons, 8, 11, and the cerebral 13 year old, ask to watch some every time they are here. Going to introduce them to Groucho et al next week.
Them Thar Hills!

OMG, my grandfather owned a film company, in the early 60's-70's and he would have older films brought up from the storage vaults, and we'd all sit outside, on nice summer nights and display the film against the (whitewashed) wall of the "pump house" (the well housing) at the end of a very long, large patio. (We don't need no stinkin' screen!) I spent many happy hours laughing my young carcass off at TTH. What a classic.

TTM does not need remaking. Sacrilege! Not even some of the sequels, some of which (TTM goes Home) are less than wondrous. Nobody today can replace Powell and Loy, period. Yes, yes, that's a get-off-my-lawn, but I feel the same way about Casablanca, which captured the imagination of a country at a time when it was needed.

I mean, why not remake TPB, while we're at it? Widely considered the only perfect movie ever made? I'm sure we could get somebody to take Andre the Giant's role...

sheesh.
