That is not true. I have a yogabook, and the eInk has a mode that works like a wacom tablet. At first it wasn't like this, but last November they updated the SDK software for the e-ink and added this and other features.
I use my yogabook mostly for online math tutoring. It is priceless for writing math formula in a way I can put them up for students to see. Being able to see what you're writing under the pen tip is so much more precious than trying to use a plain wacom tablet to write. Also, the sketchpad interprets formula to some extent.
I would have preferred the backlit e-ink, but honestly, I find that having one illuminated screen is enough.
I picked it up on sale for about $550 almost a year ago, and I am totally satisfied with the investment.
