EDIT : I've just installed FontLab 7, let's find out how it works.
Since you don't know where Bookerly came from, I suggest dumping it. There is an LCD version out there as one of the pirated versions. I suggest you grab Bookerly from the Kindle firmware and add hinting as well as fixing the problem with the bold italic version. All the information you need is here on MR. But finding it is another story.
