This is why I use a Kobo + Calibre + Alf to read eBooks from Amazon that I paid good money for.
Also annotation export, collections, series, changes to FW are all far better on Kobo than Kindle.
The two uses of my Kindle are a final check of Kindle format I produce (though I upload epub2 to Amazon) and the serial number for my Download via PC and USB.
The Cloud, or a Cloud library, is back to the 1960s and someone else's server.
