I don't use collections on my Oasis 3 at all. Calibre does all I need for library management. I do use shelves on my Kobo, because they can be managed automatically, but I wouldn't lose any sleep if I couldn't use them. Book management on an eink reader is not a feature I really need. For series info on the Kindles I use plugboards and that's enough for me.
