True. And hopefully if someone misplaces an iPad Pro it just misplaced and not stolen. I think the U1 chip adds pin point accuracy, but I’m not sure what else it adds. At any rate, an iPad Pro is pretty large, so I think it would be easy to locate the old hunt and search method as long as it was misplaced within a radius of hundred feet or so. If you leave it on the cross town bus you are pretty much SOL.

The AirTags are BT and as such they will have a limited range. I'm guessing around 30 meters range. So don't expect to secretly plant one on your child and follow their progress around town. AirTags don't have GPS, only BT.
