No, there is no advantage to using this driver if you are not using kepubs. And if you are bypassing nickel altogether to use Plato, you might want to consider using either the "User Defined USB driver" or the "Folder Device Interface". The Kobo specific drivers require the books to be in the database on the device. If you are not using nickel, then are probably better to use the other drivers.
