That is a little misunderstanding: The 300 kb size limit does not apply to the size of the book. We are only talking here about the size of the text chunks. An epub file has its text files not in one piece, but is split up. The size of these chunks is not allowed to go over the 300kb limit. The Gutenberg Epubs ignore that size limit and are not split up.
