Sorry to hear that. I'm lazy, I just use Linux Mint. So far none of my computers have ever NOT hooked up to an eReader. I have had trouble with Calibre and a Glowlight Plus, however. So I just drag the books to the Nook on that computer.

I guess I'm lucky, I haven't had these issues. But I don't put a lot of books on the Nook at a time, so that's probably why.
