The Wall of Winnipeg and Me is the first of Mariana Zapata's books that I read and really liked, although this wasn't her first book. I've liked most of her books a lot, but this one is still my favorite. It's a little odd - it's very long and slow-paced, but I couldn't put it down, and I still re-read it from time to time.
(And I had to suspend a little bit of disbelief about the visa thing - you'll know if you read it - because I'm pretty sure the character who needs a visa would have no real trouble getting one, but I enjoyed the book enough to grant the suspension

.)
Anyway,
Wall is on sale right now at $1.99, as a US Kindle Countdown Deal, for about 1 3/4 more days. And it's KU also, so if you have that, you can try it for free if you prefer...
