Trouble converting .awz to epub

Hello,

First, I want to start out by saying that I am a recently converted macbook user. I also want to add to it that we(wife & I) don’t own any kindle devices.

So, with that being said, we bought the newest Dean Koontz book and unfortunately, it is only available via kindle. We have all of them on our nook app and I wanted to convert it over to epub to read on the nook app.

I downloaded and installed calibre 5.x(the most recent version), then downloaded the most recent version of kindle app for macbook.

I followed the instructions for downloading DeDRM 7.1.0 and installed the plugin.

I closed calibre, restarted it, imported the azw file, then went to convert the book. I got knew something wasn’t right because it imported too quick and gave me the message that it couldn’t import due to DRM.

I also tried downloading Kindle 1.17 and importing that way. Still got same message.

I will try calibre 4.23 and DeDRM 6.68 tonight when I wake up.

If none of that works, what else can I try? I feel like I’m right on the edge of making it work, that I don’t want to give up and pay $30 for epubor. We already paid $20 for the e-book. I’m also thinking the DRM may require a kindle serial number to strip off the DRM, which we do not have.

Any help would be appreciated.
