I don’t think display improvements are likely (apart from possible ‘color’ eInk as an option).
However performance improvement would be welcome: either reduced power consumption, which could mean smaller batteries and lighter device, or better UI responsiveness (page turn speed is okay but when things are downloading or indexing, the UI is sluggish).
