Thanks everyone for your advice ITT. Unfortunately, I'm still stuck. I deleted and reinstalled the Pocket app and now can't login. Here's what I've tried:
- Sideloading a Pocket APK from APK Mirror (tried this with multiple versions)
- Downloading Pocket from Google Play store
- Downloading Pocket from Onyx's built-in app store
- Logging in manually AND logging in via Google in all the ways above
The result is always the same: A pop-up that reads "Oops, something went wrong. Please try again later." or "Could not login. There was a problem connecting to Pocket." (The message changed depending which version of Pocket I use.)
But here's something strange:
When I click the "Get Help" link for more info, I'm directed to
this page. While this page loads fine here on my desktop, on my Poke it just returns an ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR. Why would my tablet get an SSL error while attempting to access Pocket's website? And could that be related to my inability to login?
In a Hail Mary, I've contacted Onyx and asked them to release the code for its kernels/drivers for this device, so that the developer community could write its own updated Android. I won't hold my breath for that.
