Features / problems with new Firmware 3.1 and Neoreader
PRO
- the ePub has a better support of publisher CSS
- the ePub is "paginated" and not "re-paginated" every time you use TOC (this is VERY good for handwritten notes)
- the "link" new feature for connect words from an ePub to another ePub (or document) or to a web page is interesting
CONS
- Neoreader fails to open a lot of ePub with a generic error
- If the ePub has embedded fonts there are problems:
+ all the words with accents (טישאעל) are showed in a different font and with a wrong kerning
+ the embedded font is often rendered in a wrong way (italic instead normal; too dark; if bold: "very too dark"; different from the embedded one; some family seems to be missing (for example monospaced); and counting...)
- The hyphenation is wrong for italian language. If I select to toggle the hyphenation, Neoreader only remove the "-" symbol in the hyphenated words...
- the SVG images are not visible
- there is a big problem with internal links: when I follow a internal link Neoreader SOMETIMES re-paginate the ebook (sigh: this is not good when someone is taking handwritten notes...) and, after a jump inside the ebook, Neoreader SOMETIMES fails to turn the pages...
- sometimes Neoreader put random newline in the middle of a paragraph
- the "new link feature" to connect a word to another ePub (or document) could be improved: actually I can not link to another section of the ePub I'm reading (a internal link) and I can not link to a specific place in another ePub, only the entire ePub...
