Use the Calibre Editor. It has a lot of tools
But that (EPUB) is not something you pickup in a couple of days from a cold start

Follow PeterT's advice. If you send the ORIGINAL (as delivered) and it does not work, then it is their issue.
Putting Calibre in the middle (a conversion, adding metadata, means YOU modified their delivered work (even though inserting metadata really should not make it fail)
