Going back quite a few years, I was working in an education setting and we were just starting to get into the Internet. At that time, we had a Sun pizza box configured by the telco as our firewall. When I looked at the firewall rules, they looked very strange to my eye. I asked a telco rep about the oddities. His explanation was normally a firewall is configured to keep them out.
