I attached here simple patch which restore plugin function in my Calibre 2.0.
Ummm... Calibre 2.0? Released in 2014? The last version of calibre that stated to work with Windows XP was 1.48 since the version of QT used in Calibre 2.0.0 forward was QT5 which QT states did not support Windows XP.

Out of a perhaps morbid curiosity, did you test your patch to see if it broke Find Duplicates in newer versions of calibre?
