Hello worlds,
My Name is Geoff Tester,
I'm an avid Linux User, and I enjoy making devices do things that they are not originally intended to do...
For example:
- PSPs playing Gameboy Games
- Nintendo DS running full-blown Linux
- x11 Forwarding a Linux Application to a Windows Computer (that was fun)
And so, after I found
this post by user
Schuhumi
I felt I NEEDED to add a Kindle PaperWhite 3 running Alpine Linux to my collection of mildly useless things.
Having never had an e-reader before, I prefer audiobooks, I started my research journey and ended up in a bit of a pickle.
My PW3 is running
5.12.2.
I have gone through some very well written guides on here and added the serial port, and I know that fastboot does exist on the Kindle e-reader devices...
So I was wondering if it would be possible to flash an older image (5.9.6.1 perhaps?) to this Kindle of mine so I can make it do things it was never designed to do?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Geoff.
