Yes, any metadata entry can be used. Just be aware that the replace_metadata etc is also applied before the entry is used in the conditional and recursive loops are skipped. So if you have a category line that depends on a characters conditional, if there are characters lines that depend on category conditionals, results may not be 100% what you expect.

Yes, if you search this thread, or see the google group/mailing list or github issues, this has been going on for a few weeks and affects everyone.

FFF v3.29 and newer already have all the same cloudflare code.

We have no way of knowing if things will get better or worse with this. If you manually set slow_down_sleep_time in your personal.ini, you may want to review it, since the default value for ffnet has been raised considerably.
