It's not a case of too stupid, it's more a case of dont really care what the VAT rate is

Here is a small example for you

I went shopping on Saturday for some things (rounded prices up to nearest pound to make figures easier)

Newspaper £2
Pint of milk £1
Postage Stamps £5
Magazine £1
Greetings card £1

This comes to a nice £10
How much VAT was there on this?

This is a real example, I did not receive a receipt as it was a cash payment so did not want one
