Others have attached the wires in various ways, including pins through a sponge of some sort. Some have even managed to tape them in place. You don't need a permanant connection, just one long enough to get the job done.

Do keep in mind you need the proper serial adapter, as you can burn out circuitry at too high a voltage. See one of the serial jailbreak threads. I believe there is even one specific to the KT3.
