In some cases, if you don't register, you lose features or it just won't work until registered. So you have to see what you can or cannot do and then decide what's the right thing to do. If you buy eBooks from Kobo or Amazon, you have to give them your information so why not register as they have your info anyway.
I am curious of the reason(s) not to register if it's nothing to do with paranoia/privacy issues.
