It's even updated to the last version of iOS ever released for the 4S. That was the first thing I did. There is no books or iBooks on it. It does actually have Facebook, Facetime and WhatsApp installed, but I have no idea if those still work. I've no accounts for those.
The battery now seems to die overnight. So it's now useless except on a dock.
