Thank you for reporting (at last) that it works somewhere else than here!

Hmm not without recompiling the kernel. (or with VNC, if you can, see below)
But you can increase the size of the onboard keyboard in /mnt/user/kobox.sh
It launches onboard somewhere and you can append -x and -y arguments to define the size.
I suggest that you start x11vnc with the terminal and you set things up a bit on your computer, where you'll be able to drag the keyboard to a place that is OK for you.
Also, you can hide it, there's an icon (pretty pale) in the top-right corner, just before the date & time display.
